For dogs over 6 months
of age who have successfully completed Beginning Home Obedience
and/or Advanced Home Obedience. Rally is the fun new sport that
combines agility and obedience. Dogs and handlers navigate a course
of basic obedience exercises.
For more information on Rally, including the exercises, visit this
website: Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rally_obedience. (Note: Rally is for mixed breed, as
well as purebred dogs.) Bring your dog & current training equipment
the first week.
Please Note: If you have done your dog training at another
facility and wonder whether or not your dog is ready for Advanced
Home Obedience or Rally Obedience, here's a list guidelines that
will help you make that determination. If you still do any of the
following, you're not ready for Advanced Home Obedience or Rally --
we would recommend Beginning Home Obedience class for you and your
dog. (Of course, please contact us if you have a special situation
that you'd like to discuss.)
You have to repeat commands. We do not believe in repeating
commands. Nagging dogs is like nagging children or spouses...and
you know how well that works!
You say "No" a lot. We don't believe in saying "no" or yelling at
dogs. It might work temporarily, but it doesn't teach the dog what
you really want him to do in the first place!
Your dog pulls on the leash. We teach dogs how to walk beside you
without pulling and to sit when you stop walking - all on the first
command.
Your dog won't come when called. We will show you how to train a
reliable recall - and only say "come" one time!
Your dog won't stay for one to three minutes around distractions.
Sit-stay, down-stay and stand-stay - around distractions!!! - are
taught in our Beginning Home Obedience classes.
You're still having behavior problems. We will help you find the
best solution for barking, chewing, digging, jumping up, and other
common problems.
